Remembering the Great War

The Northern Delaware Oratorio Society commemorates the 100th anniversary of the ending World War I this Armistice Day (Nov 11) with music and poetry including works by those fallen in the conflict. The centerpiece of the concert is Edward Elgar’s “The Spirit of England”, composed during WWI and setting poems from 1914. In addition, NDOS will present works by E. J. Moeran and Charles Hubert Parry, art songs from the period, instrumental interludes, and poetry by Rupert Brooke, Wilfred Owen, Rudyard Kipling and others.

Thanksgiving ~ Rejoicing Fall 2017 Concert

The Northern Delaware Oratorio Society (NDOS) presents their Fall 2017 concert "Thanksgiving ~ Rejoicing" at 3pm on Sunday November 26th.  The program consists of two settings of "Nun danket wir alles Gott" - by Johann Pachelbel and by J.S. Bach (Cantata 192), as well as John Rutter's "Magnificat".  The NDOS chorus will be joined by soloists Kathryn Hearn (Soprano) and Rob Kennan (Bass), as well by David Hearn (organ), Karen Markey (harpsichord) and Janet Witman (harp).  Join us as we celebrate Thanksgiving and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation!

Season Of Sixes And Sevens - Coronation and Carols

The Northern Delaware Oratorio Society's first concert of our "Of Sixes and Sevens" season, celebrating works by composers who were born or died in years ending in 6 or 7, features the Coronation Mass and Regina Coeli by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (born 1756) and Ceremony of Carols and A Hymn to the Virgin by Benjamin Britten (died 1976). 

The NDOS Chorus will be joined by David Hearn (organ), John Hintz (percussion) and Janet Witman (harp).

Soloists:  Kathryn S. Hearn (Soprano), Mary Reppy (Soprano), Judith W. Fullhart (Alto), Kevin Botbyl (Tenor), Rob Kennan (Bass).

Season of Psalms I - Overture Cantabile

The first of two concerts in the Northern Delaware Oratorio (NDOS) 2015/2016 season celebrating the Psalms.  The concert features Mendelssohn's cantata "Come Let Us Sing" (Psalm 95), settings of Psalms 112, 113 and 122 by Giacomo Puccini senior, great grandfather of the famous opera composer, and John Rutter's settings of Psalms 23, 47, 96, 100 and 121 from his "PsalmFest".  The program is rounded out by César Franck's exuberant music for Psalm 150.
